    VTC Central Admission Scheme opens for HKDSE candidates on result release day

    The Vocational Training Council (VTC) provides diversified programmes in vocational education and training tailored for candidates of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE), including self-financed Degree, Higher Diploma, Foundation Diploma (Level 3) and Diploma in Vocational Education programmes. Interested parties can submit application at the VTC Admissions Homepage (www.vtc.edu.hk/admission) and join the “Central Admission Scheme” on the HKDSE result release day.
     
    VTC Central Admission Scheme
     
    Catering for the result announcement of HKDSE (15 July), VTC will mount the Central Admission Scheme on the day at its campuses for on-spot application by HKDSE candidates. Prospective applicants can visit the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) (Tsing Yi), the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) and the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) to apply for VTC programmes. Applicants will be invited to attend on-site interviews. Successful applicants will be notified of the offer results on the day of the interview. (General entrance requirements are set out at Annex 1).
     
    The “conditional offer” applicants received earlier will be converted to “confirmed offers” if their HKDSE results meet stipulated requirement. Concerned applicants are required to confirm their acceptance of offer in person at the offering campus during 10 am to 4 pm on the result release day. 
     
    Students having not yet submitted their applications, without an offer or have declined offers can visit THEi (Tsing Yi), IVE and HKDI campuses from 15 July to 20 July to join the Central Admission Scheme for VTC programmes. Details are as follows:

    After confirming acceptance of offer, applicants are required to complete registration in person at the offering campus before 20 July 12:00 noon, or else the offer given will become null and void.
     
    In the 2015/16 academic year, VTC provides around 19,000 places distributed among its more than 100 Degree, Higher Diploma, Foundation Diploma (Level 3) and Diploma in Vocational Education programmes to offer diversified progression pathways for HKDSE candidates.
     
    THEi offers 16 vocationally oriented self-financed degree programmes. Among them, 4 are new programmes, namely Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Food Science and Safety, Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Building Services Engineering, Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Public Relations and Management and Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Horticulture and Landscape Management.
     
    IVE, HKDI and the International Culinary Institute (ICI) provide some 90 Higher Diploma programmes, including 6 new programmes: Higher Diploma in Medical Centre Management, Higher Diploma in Beauty Care and Personal Care Products, Higher Diploma in Transmedia Design, Higher Diploma in Jewellery and Image Product Design, Higher Diploma in Furniture and Lifestyle Product Design and Higher Diploma in Stage and Set Design. 
     
    IVE offers 7 Foundation Diploma (Level 3) programmes while the Youth College offers 16 Diploma in Vocational Education programmes for Secondary 6 students.

    Diversified Progression Pathways

    Other member institutions of VTC offer comprehensive programmes at different levels to cater for various progression pathways of Secondary 6 students The Hospitality Industry Training and Development Centre (HITDC), the Chinese Cuisine Training Institute (CCTI) and the International Culinary Institute (ICI) offer diploma and certificate programmes in culinary arts, catering, hotel and tourism for aspiring young people.
     
    In the academic year 2015/16, VTC also provides programmes suitable for Post-Secondary 3 students. The credit-based Diploma in Vocational Education programme by the Youth College is designed for school leavers at Secondary 3 level or above. There are 16 programmes under 3 major areas, namely Business and Services, Engineering as well as Design and Technology. Upon completion of the programmes, graduates are eligible to apply for VTC Higher Diploma programmes.
