Students of the Vocational Training Council (VTC) again shined in various competitions including the Hong Kong Lighting Design Competition, the HKIAAT Accounting and Business Management Case Competition and the Hong Kong ICT Awards. VTC students are encouraged to partake in different competitions to realise their potential and acquire practical experience in preparation for a fledgling career ahead.

    Lighting Design
Students of the Higher Diploma in Interior Design and Exhibition Design programmes of the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) swept all the top prizes of the Student Category of the 7th Hong Kong Lighting Design Competition themed “Blossom Blooms”. The winners won for capturing the vibrancy of spring with originality and functionality. The three HKDI students WONG Man-chung, MOK Ching-man and LAU Ka-yan won the top three prizes. The champion pendant lamp, “Cohesion”, is unique for its lampshade assembled out of drinking straws. Its blossoming flower lampshade ensures smooth distribution of light. The design encourages family activity by allowing members to assemble straws into a lampshade. Choosing straws of their favourite colour and weaving them into favourite style results in unique “Cohesion” lamps. The first runner-up lamp piece named “Fresh Wing” and the second runner-up “Glowing Tulip” capture the beauty of serene moonlight.
