With the date of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (DSE) results approaching, the Vocational Training Council (VTC) partnered with the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) to organise a VTC-HKFYG Symposium for DSE Candidates on 2 July (last Saturday), offering a wealth of job-hunting and career advice and inspiration.

The Symposium gathered experts to provide firsthand information on future study and career progression for current DSE candidates. Reeve Kwan, Co-Founder of GoGoVan and Jorden CHENG, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Mad Group and graduate of the IVE Higher Diploma in Internet and Multimedia Engineering programme were invited to share their learning and startup experience.

At the concurrent parents’ talk, HKFYG Supervisor HSU Siu-man and renowned financial commentator Agnes WU, herself also a parent, shared professional tips with parents on how to best communicate with their children and face up the DSE results together. The mock Central Admission interviews, programme info booths and aptitude tests made available on-site familiarised DSE candidates with admission processes on the result release day and enabled them to better understand their academic and career options.

In addition, VTC Senior Assistant Executive Director Gladys YAM introduced arrangements and details of the VTC Central Admission Scheme. VTC offers diversified programmes for Secondary 6 students ranging from Degree, Higher Diploma, Diploma of Foundation Studies and Diploma of Vocational Education. Interested students can apply in person at any one of IVE, HKDI and THEi (Tsing Yi) campuses between 13 July (DSE result release day) and 18 July where the Central Admission Scheme will be held.
