    The Vocational Training Council (VTC) participated in the four-day Education & Careers Expo starting today (23-26 February), providing one-stop information for young people on study, training and professional development opportunities. Secretary for Education, Eddie NG, officiated at the opening ceremony and toured the VTC Booth inspecting the innovative teaching facilities and scientific and technological outcomes of VTC students and teachers.

    Unveiling the Education & Careers Expo held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Mr Ng toured the VTC Booth exchanging with the students and teachers there, in the company of VTC Deputy Executive Director, Professor Ronald CHUNG. Adopting the theme of “The VPET Pathway in the 21st century”, the VTC this year showcases its innovative facilities for the teaching of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and related scientific and technological products. In tandem the Booth displays the latest Virtual Reality (VR) teaching facilities and shots in a 360° panoramic mode to visualise the VTC Halls of Residence. In a dedicated Skills Excellence Zone, members of the public can experience the scientific and technological possibilities of vocational and professional education and training (VPET), such as operating a robot which can move about freely, trying out VR games and putting their hands to the making of a metal aeroplane.

    The VTC booth provides counselling services on progression options at a number of VTC member institutions, including the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi), Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE), Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI), the International Culinary Institute (ICI), Hotel and Tourism Institute (HTI), Chinese Culinary Institute (CCI) and Youth College. Secondary 6 students are able to apply on the spot through the VTC online admission system. The deadline for application is 28 February.

    Established in 1982, the Vocational Training Council(VTC)is the largest vocational and professional education and training provider in Hong Kong with some 250,000 students and trainees each year.
