Parents’ Talks offer advice for fostering young people with a positive outlook for challenges ahead
As they grow up, young people face many challenges – so how can parents ensure they maintain a positive mindset? In collaboration with the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, the Vocational Training Council (VTC) is to hold a Parents’ Talk series on three upcoming Saturdays. Comprising three talks, Parents’ Talk series 2017 will address from a variety of perspectives: the key issues today’s young people face in growing up, the multiple academic progression pathways, and the importance of positive thinking, so that parents are better able to help their children face up to these challenges. (Please refer to Annex for details)At the first talk on 11 March (Saturday), Joseph TSANG from the Hong Kong Association of Career Masters and Guidance Masters will present “DSE Parenting Tips”, examining the multiple academic progression pathways available to help parents chart future plans with their children. The second talk scheduled for 25 March (Saturday) will be delivered by Blanche TANG, a parenting expert, under the title “Exploring Youth Potential”. It will provide tips for parents to unleash their children’s potential in different areas to help them attain a bright future. Then on Saturday 8 April, Specialist in Psychiatry Dr HUI Lung-kit and Hong Kong National Football Team Captain YAPP Hung-fai will speak on the theme “Developing Resilience”, utilising their professional knowledge and life experiences to explain how to develop an optimistic mindset, braving all challenges that arise.
Admission to the talks is free. Interested parents can register online at www.vtc.edu.hk/ero/talk or call 2836 1907 for enquiries.
