The Vocational Training Council (VTC) held its 2024 graduation ceremonies with over 13,000 graduates from various VTC member institutions conferred awards ranging from Bachelor’s Degree, Higher Diploma, Diploma of Foundation Studies, Diploma of Vocational Education, Diploma to Certificate. The ceremonies are being held on 26, 27, 30 November and 7 December at VTC member institutions, including the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi), the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE), the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI), the Maritime Services Training Institute (MSTI), the Hotel and Tourism Institute (HTI), the Chinese Culinary Institute (CCI), the International Culinary Institute (ICI) and Youth College.
The Vocational Training Council (VTC), the Construction Industry Council (CIC) and the Clothing Industry Training Authority (CITA) jointly organised the Hong Kong Junior Skills Competition 2024 to introduce to secondary school students vocational skills and better prepare them for future career planning. Nearly 200 students from 55 secondary schools joined seven skills trades namely 3D Digital Game Art, Fashion Technology, Hairdressing, Mechatronics, Pâtisserie and Confectionery, Visual Merchandising, and Wall and Floor Tiling.
The Student Awards Presentation Ceremony was successfully held to recognize the achievements of the students. The ceremony also provided a valuable opportunity for the awardees to express their most sincere gratitude to the donors in person.
“IVElite” is a student peer mentoring project to help students to become a self-regulated learner. With the experience of sharing and support from the mentors, students will quickly adjust to the new learning environment and develop a systematic learning strategy.
The "Barrier-Free Smart Mailbox" proposal developed by Higher Diploma in Computer and Electronic Engineering students, WONG Wai-shing, CHAU Nok-hei and MOK Chun-lam from IVE, won the Gold Award and the Best Smart Design Award in the URA x IVE Innovation Design Competition 2023/24 co-organised by the Urban Renewal Authority and IVE.
IVE (Kwai Chung) Students from Higher Diploma in Applied Nutritional Studies won the Champion in the Sustainable Charity Healthy Cooking Competition held by Meiriki Japan and Faculty of Food and Nutritional Science of The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
