The Vocational Training Council (VTC) organises a series of free talks for parents this month on topics ranging from tips for Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (DSE) candidates and parents and healthy diet for babies. When babies are weaned of milk, their parents begin to face a new set of problems: how to ensure a healthy diet for their children? In the transition from spring to summer, babies will have a higher incidence of rashes and allergic vomiting or diarrhoea. So how should parents feed their babies to stave off possible risks? ‧How should a meal be planned if a child develops allergies to food? ‧Infant food must not be fat-free! ‧Be careful to ward babies off high risk food! ‧After a baby is weaned of milk, where can it get essentials for brain development like DHA, AA, Lutein and Choline? ‧Will babies be smarter eating more deep sea fishes? ‧The real strengths of DHA, AA, Lutein and Choline? The New Talents Press will present a talk on baby feeding this Saturday (12 April). The speaker, registered dietician Winnie WONG, author of a number of books on food nutrition and infant diet, will share healthy tips for baby diet. The talk is most suitable for new fathers and mothers or grandparents who would like to learn more practical tips for the proper growth of their children. Separately the VTC collaborates with the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) to launch the Parents Talk Series. This Saturday (12 April) Joseph TSANG, Vice-Chairperson of Hong Kong Association of Careers Masters and Guidance Masters, will address strategies on the DSE and ways for youngsters to cope with stress. Parents are advised to grasp the opportunity to prepare themselves and accompanying their children to tide over the challenging period. For the 26 April talk, Agnes WU, famed finance commentator and parenting columnist, will speak on her parenting experiences turning to the part-time working mother where WONG Hang-chit, Lecturer of the IVE Information Technology Discipline, will share tips to further parent-child relationship with smartphones.
