    Overview

The Childcare, Elderly and Community Services (CECS) Discipline provides high quality training in child education, elderly care services and social work recognised by the government and professional bodies. A range of learning facilities such as the Child Education Centre for Teaching and Learning (CECTL), Fong Yun Wah Centre for Elderly Services and Clinical Observation Room are provided. Learning opportunities including placements, overseas exchange programmes, workshops and social services, equip students with professional knowledge and skills, as well as positive attitudes, making them highly competitive.

    Quality Training with Placement Opportunities

The discipline provides opportunities for young people to seek careers in the child education and community services industry. As part of the programme, students are attached to childcare centres, kindergartens or elderly centres and homes to equip themselves with practical experiences.

    Partnership with Industries

The discipline maintains close working relationships with government bodies, social services centres, homes for the elderly and pre-school centres for input into the curriculum. Our industry partners also provide solid support in fieldwork placements, field visits and research projects which enrich learning experiences of our students.

    Specialised Facilities

The discipline is supported by well-designed facilities for special teaching and learning purposes. The Child Education Centre for Teaching and Learning, the mini-golf driving range and the Fitness Playground are all purpose-built facilities
for students to practise and develop relevant skills of their subject fields.

    Industry Recognition

Our programmes are recognised by the Education Bureau and the Social Welfare Department. Graduates become registered kindergarten teachers, child care workers, qualified health workers and welfare workers, realising career dreams while contributing to society.
