Overview

The Department provides higher diploma courses in construction related disciplines which include civil engineering, environmental engineering, surveying and architectural studies.  The Department aims to provide high quality programmes to train professionals and technicians for the construction industry to meet the infrastructure development in Hong Kong. 

Infrastructure project is one of the major economy driver of Hong Kong.  Global environmental concern for sustainable development and issues such as the global warming effect also emphasises the need for technical professionals in areas of environmental and infrastructure engineering.  Furthermore, the implementation of the proposed Mandatory Building Inspection Scheme and the current Site Supervision Plans has generated substantial opportunities for construction graduates.

It is the Department’s will to become an excellent teaching centre for training competent practitioners in the profession.
