VTC Smart City Innovation Centre and STEAM Education Centre

The Centre equips students with STEAM knowledge, providing practical insights into emerging technologies. Through Smart City projects and interdisciplinary initiatives addressing urban challenges, students enhance their skills by applying technology. The Virtual and Augmented Reality (VAR) Learning Zone help students grasp engineering concepts in an immersive environment.
Wine and Beverage Laboratory
Haking Wong
Wine and Beverage Laboratory spans 4,000 square feet, featuring European and American tasting room designs. It includes 38 workstations in an arched layout, each equipped with independent lighting, a washing basin, and a Formica tabletop for professional training needs. In addition to full-time student training, the Hospitality discipline regularly organises in-service programmes.
Aviation Centre
Tsing Yi
The Aviation Centre offers professional simulated mock IP cabin and check-in counter training to help students acquire industry-specific skills and real-world workplace experience.
The Electric Vehicles Training Center
Tsing Yi
The Electric Vehicles Training Center advances electric vehicle technology through cutting-edge facilities like EV powertrain platforms and high-voltage systems. Trainees gain comprehensive knowledge of EV operation, maintenance and safety in a secure environment. Equipped with digitally connected training vehicles, the centre develops diagnostic skills to meet growing industry demands for EV servicing expertise.
WE Park
Sha Tin
WE Park is a training facility for the Childhood, Elderly, and Community Services Discipline. Spanning 15,000 square feet, it features 13 play zones designed as an outdoor educational space where children can freely explore and express their creativity. Each play zone offers different types of activities, such as free play, nature exploration, constructive play, creative play, and role-playing games. The park provides open-ended, low-structure materials to encourage children to choose their preferred play style based on their developmental needs, fostering creativity and exploration through "1 material, N possibilities" of personalised play.
Dispensing Training and Pharmaceutical Care Resource Centre
Chai Wan
The center enables students to learn pharmacy equipment and dispensing process for Western and Chinese medicines. It stocks various medicines and features computer systems for dispensing and labeling in simulated dispensary. The "Smart Electronic Medicine Cabinet" automatically selects medications based on prescriptions, enhancing accuracy and efficiency.
BIMiHub
Tsing Yi
Equipped with advanced facilities, the Building Information Modelling Innovation Hub (BIMiHub) provides students with professional BIM education and training and promotes interdisciplinary collaborations across campuses. It aims at driving BIM development and co-creating innovative solutions to meet industry needs.
K Concept Studio
Kwun Tong
Equipped with mobile devices, computers and AV equipment for photography, filming, editing and online sharing, the studio features a mini beauty salon with complimentary makeup tools and sponsored cosmetics, and regular KOL sessions that train students in digital marketing skills through demonstrations. Students gain hands-on experience through project presentations, event organisation and internships in this creative space.
Smart Living Home
Kwai Chung
The Smart Living Home integrates smart automation and healthcare technology to create a safe, comfortable environment for aging in place. It features home automation, security systems, e-health devices and rehabilitation aids. The facility also serves as a gerontechnology training center for healthcare and rehabilitation students.
Industry Recognition
IVE receives strong support from the industry, which provides valuable insights for curriculum planning and design as well as providing extensive internship opportunities for students. Among Higher Diploma students who participated in internships, over 25% were directly hired by their internship companies. Over the years, many graduates have also secured positions in multinational corporations and large enterprises, contributing their professional expertise to various industries.

52 Year 1 students of the Higher Diploma in Management for Disciplined Services of the Business Department attended the lecture from Hong Kong Customs College. During the session, students experienced the 1:1 cargo search training and the AR customs clearance training. The students enjoyed interactive activities and learned customs clearance procedures in real-life scenarios. This valuable experience reinforced the knowledge they learned in class.

Students from Higher Diploma in Building Studies of IVE (Tuen Mun) win Community Engagement Gold Award for "Choi Hung Dreams, Memory Streams" project
News
Students of the Higher Diploma in Building Studies of IVE (Tuen Mun) collaborated across disciplines with peers from the Childcare, Elderly and Community Services Discipline. They used drone aerials and 360-degree panoramic cameras to comprehensively document the architecture of Choi Hung Estate. Leveraging BIM and VR technologies, they recreated the estate's full panorama and historical scenes in the digital realm while recording oral histories and community sentiments from long-term residents to preserve Choi Hung's precious historical imprint. By integrating professional expertise with humanistic care, the project showcased the new generation's commitment to community cultural preservation and won the Community Engagement Gold Award in the VTC Community Engagement Reward Scheme – Community Quest.
