    IVE(CW) Summer Fun

    Around a hundred S6 students and parents joined the IVE(CW) summer programme. The programme included taster workshop, campus visit, language and sport facilities experience. We also invited our current students to share their articulation pathways to the participants.

    Visit of the Eastern District Office, Home Affairs Department

    Ms Anne Teng, District Officer (Eastern), visited IVE(CW) to further strengthen our relationship with the community. Apart from campus visit, the team also communicated with our students to know more about their campus life and articulation path. Collaboration will be further explored.

    Visit of the Financial Secretary

    Mr. John Tsang, Financial Secretary, visited our Centre for Independent Language Learning (CILL) and communicated with our students. The Financial Secretary also attended the MOU signing ceremony of VTC and Hong Kong Printers Association at IVE(CW).

    Joint-Staff Development Day for Government Secondary Schools

    300 teaching staff from six Government Secondary Schools held a joint-staff development day at IVE(CW) to have a clearer picture of the latest development of VTC programmes. The whole day event included talks delivered by VTC education advisors and other speakers from education sector, followed by campus visit and sports activities in the afternoon. The teachers were impressed with our development and campus facilities.

    Nov 2013 IVE(Chai Wan) Info Day

    Over 4,000 visitors, including secondary school principals, teachers, students, parents, social workers and IVE students joined our Info Day. A series of programmes such as interactive workshops, seminars, campus tours, Principals' Lunch Forum, student performance and singing contest etc have been arranged in the 2-day event. Individual programme consultation and online application were also arranged.

    Thank You Dinner with PTAs

    To strengthen the connection with the parents, we invited 30 members of the School Parent-Teacher Associations to join a Thank You Dinner. The students of Department of Hotel, Services and Tourism Studies prepared dinner for the parents to enjoy. The parents were impressed by the delicious meal and excellent services.

    Visit of the Secretary for Education

    Mr. Eddie Ng Hak-kim, SBS, JP, Secretary for Education and his team visited IVE(Chai Wan) to further understand the campus life of the Higher Diploma students. They visited the learning facilities of the campus and also communicated with our students.

    Visit of the 佛山市順德區人大常委會代表團

    A delegation tour of佛山市順德區人大常委會 visited and have exchanged our views on vocational education development in China and Hong Kong, followed by a campus tour.

     

     

     

    2012 Open Day

    Over 5,800 visitors joined our Open Day workshops, demonstrations, seminars and tours. The high-lights included the 2013 admission updates, the 2 MOU signing ceremonies with Adventist Hospital and Spaghetti House and the Principal's lunch forum with secondary school career masters and teachers.

    Student Lee Kin Fai and Student Ng Chun Ngai fetched a bronze medal in the 9th University Game of People’s Republic of China

    Student Lee Kin Fai (李健暉) and Student Ng Chun Ngai (吳晉毅) took home a bronze medal for the Dui Lian (對練) team event in the 9th University Game of People's Republic of China at Tian Jin (天津). They joined 69 other HK students in this University Game. Coach Lao Tao (劉濤) praised that both students for their exceptional performance achieved despite a team injury.

    Summer Taster

    As to have a better understanding of IVE (Chai Wan), we have invited 180 S5 students of Henrietta secondary school to participate in the 2-day Summer Taster. The students commented that it was a good opportunity to understand more about our programmes, facilities and services which help them to better plan for their articulation path in next year.

    MIT Summer Workshop

    Around 70 students from AS, BA and ENG Disciplines participated in the MIT Summer Workshop , which was jointly organized by IVE and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) under the MIT-China Educational Technology Initiative. It aims to promote cultural exchange between American and Chinese students through hands-on applications of science and technology. Some students shared that the workshop has broadened their horizons and wish to have more similar workshops in the future.

    Zhuhai Visit of IVE (Chai Wan)

    In order to have a better understanding of the challenges faced by the industrialists and the educational development in China, we have visited Ace Plastic Technologies Ltd and Beijing Normal University - United International College in Zhuhai. We exchanged our views on different topics and explored opportunities for collaboration in the future.

    BA Career Expo

    The Business Administration Discipline held the 4th Career Expo in IVE (Chai Wan). Over 30 corporations like Swire, Giordano, Dairy Farm and Smartone have participated in it. On-site interviews and job offers were given to some of the graduating students. Recruitment talks and seminars were organized to provide more industry updates to the students.

    Visit of the Eastern District Council and Eastern District Office (Home Affairs Department)

    As to further strengthen our relationship with the Eastern community, we invited the new members of the Eastern District Council as well as the Eastern District Office to visit us. We shared with them the latest development of VTC and IVE, followed by a campus tour. Collaboration will be further explored.

    FPTAs (Federation of Parent-Teacher Associations, Central & Western District) joined us in our experience sharing in IVE's Curriculum Development and was impressed by our facilities and achievements. We expect closer collaboration will be forged.

    Prof. Chu Ka Hou, Director of School of Life Sciences, CUHK and Dr. Leung Man Kit Christopher, Academic Director of Applied Science Discipline, signed the Memorandum of Understanding for Industrial Attachment Programme.

    Lunch with the principals of the secondary schools in Central and Western, Southern and Wan Chai districts

    Aiming at promoting a more thorough understanding of the latest development in VTC and IVE, and as well as the new directions in curriculum planning, we invited the principals of secondary schools in different districts to come for lunch. They were impressed by our development and facilities.

    Visit of the FPTAs (Eastern District)

    FPTAs (Eastern District) was invited to join us in an experience sharing session on the latest curriculum development of IVE as well as other aspects. The guests expressed favourable comments on our facilities and achievements. Both IVE (CW) and FPTAs aspire to further collaboration.

    Staff development day of Henrietta Secondary School

    In light of the latest IVE curriculum development and changes in the institute and VTC, Henrietta Secondary School, jointly with IVE (CW), held their Staff development day on the Chain Wan campus. We introduced campus development, curriculum, programme articulation, career prospects, etc. followed by a campus tour. The teachers found our development and facilities impressive.

    Delegation visit of the Minister of State (Defense and Education) of Singapore

    Mr Lawrence Wong, Minister of State (Defense and Education), Singapore, led by a delegation and visited us in January. During their stay, the VTC senior management shared with them the development of vocational education in Hong Kong and the roles of VTC. Our developments and achievements won acclaim from our visitors.

    Staff Development Day of Lingnan Secondary School (嶺南中學)

    As to have a thorough understanding of the latest VTC, IVE and curriculum development, Lingnan secondary school had their staff development day on our campus in January.   We introduced IVE, campus development, curriculum, articulation, career prospects…etc together with a campus tour. They were very impressed with our development and facilities.

     

     

    2011 Open Day

    The event has received over 5,000 visitors, including secondary school teachers, students, government officials, industrial practitioners and our students.  A good deal of programmes such as seminars, demonstrations, workshops, student performance and singing contest, etc. have been arranged during these 2 days.

    Campus tour of the career masters from the secondary schools in the eastern district

    Further to the lunch with principals in October, career masters from different secondary schools visited us on 18 & 23 Nov. We showed them the leading laboratories, facilities and updated the coming NHD development, entrance requirements and articulation path as well.

    Meeting with Hong Kong Industries & Commerce Association Ltd. (全港工商業聯會) & Eastern District Industries & Commerce Association Ltd. (東區工商業聯會)

    In order to reinforce our relationship with the local network, a meeting with campus tour has been organized in Nov. During the meeting, we shared the latest campus development and also the student achievements. Collaboration opportunities were also discussed and they are very supportive.

    Meeting with the Eastern District Liaison Office of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (香港中華廠商會港島東區聯絡處)

    As to strengthen our relationship with the local network, a meeting with campus tour has been organized in Nov. We shared the latest campus development and the student achievements. The industrial attachment opportunities were also discussed and the chamber showed great interest.

    Staff Development Day of Belilios Public School (庇理羅士女子中學) & Shau Kei Wan Government Secondary School (筲箕灣官立中學)

    Over 130 of their teachers visited us on 21 Oct. We introduced IVE, campus development, curriculum, articulation, career prospects…etc together with a campus tour. They were very impressed with our development, facilities, service and shared that it was an “eye-opening” experience to them.

    Lunch with the principals in eastern district secondary schools

     

    Over 80% (27) of the principals in the eastern district secondary schools came for lunch on 10 & 13 October. During the lunch, we updated them our latest development and invite their teachers and students to come for campus tour.

    2011 Guangdong Province Graphics CAD and Innovation Competition

    8 EMT students participated in the competition and won both the individual and group outstanding awards. During the competition, they exchanged their experience and ideas with other participants which has widened their horizon.

    2010/11 Chiang Chen Industrial Charity Foundation Student Project Competition

    Our students from EMT “Product design engineering” course have designed a “Forearm Massaging Aircushion” which won the second runner up and another design by the students of engineering management course won a merit award in the topic of “The Improvement of Workplace Safety & Energy Usage. ”

    Meeting the Professionals

    “Meeting the Professionals” is the annual mega event of BA which has been organized for over 10 years. The aim is to create an opportunity for the final year students to practise their social skills and develop the industry network. Business professionals and mentors will be invited to meet our students and share their experiences.

     

    Prizes for the Best Final Year Project and Professional Mentorship Programme have also been presented during the event.

    Product Design Engineering Study Trip to Taipei

    Students paid a visit to Yodex (Young Designers exhibition in Taiwan), a hometec bicycle factory in Taiwan and also had a cualtural exchange visit with the Mingchi University. The visit broadened their exposure and the students got a chance to share their learning experience with students in other country as well.

    Walkathon for Brightness 2011

    Being part of the society, our students actively particapte in different charity activities regularly. By joining the walkathon, students learnt the importance of listening to others and also realised the needs of the people with eye problems.

    Multi-Faceted Wealth Management

    A seminar of “Multi-Faceted Wealth Management: How to Manage Your MPF Portfolio” was held by BA on 12 April 2011. We have invited Mr Lei Chioc San, Manager, External Affairs, Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority and Mr Michael Ha, Pensions Subcommittee Vice-chairman, Hong Kong Investment Funds Association to deliver a speech about “How to Manage the MPF Portfolio” and “How to Select the Investment Fund for MPF Portfolio” respectively. It has attracted over hundered of participants to attend and genearated very good response.

    Cultural Visit in Nanning, Guangxi

    Students experienced their life in the local villages and paid voluntary service to the aged home, schools and farms as well. The whole visit has broadened their horizon and learnt how to treasure the things they have now. It's a good chance for them to learn "giving is better than receiving" in anytime.

    After a long period of intensive training, 20 students won the female group champion as well as the male 2nd runner up (Single - Group B).

    OSH Best Project Award 2010-11

    Occupational Safety & Health Student Research Scholarship 2010-11

    8 Year 3 EMT students formed 2 teams to work on the projects namely "Improve the safety of the working environment" and "The way to manage and apply safety measures in the working environment" and won the outstanding prizes and scholarships. By joining the competition, our students had the chance to share their knowledge with other competitors and gained a lot.

    Visit Lee Kum Kee Factory

    Students visited both the condiments and health supplements production line in the Lee Kum Kee facatory in Xinhui. They are very impressed by their state-of-art technology and professionalism.

     

     

    2010 Open Day

    Time to have JOY and FUN every year ….. It’s our golden opportunity to introduce our campus and disciplines to the secondary schools, public and also a good chance for our neighborhood to visit us.  During those 2 days, we have arranged many different seminars, workshops and competitions and hope our visitors enjoyed the stay.

    E-card Competition

    Hong Kong Senior Secondary School Student Short Film and Poster Design Competition 2010 was jointly organized by the Rotary Club Metropolitan Hong Kong and BA . The competition aims to enlighten the public awareness on our theme “Strive for Integrity. Shape the Future”, which is covered by the Liberal Studies under the NSS curriculum and at the same time promote their social service responsibilities. The award presentation ceremony was held on 20 May to crown the winners.

    Monodzukuri Camp, Japan

    Cultural exchange program with Kumamoto National College of Technology (KNCT) in Japan. Our students widely broadened their exposure and shared their learning experience with the local students. Some of them even became good friends with the local students after the camp.

    2010 Hong Kong Youth Skills Competition - Personal PC and network Category

    12 finalists competed to set up the computer network system with firewall within 5 hours. And our graduate Tang Chun Hong won the championship who will represent Hong Kong to go to London to participate the World Skills Competition in October 2011 which is a great honour and also a very good opportinity to have overeseas exposure.

    Nanjing & Shanghai Summer Camp

    40 students visited 2010 Shanghai Expo, Shanghai Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park, Nanjing University, etc. and exchanged their views on learning experience with the local students.

    Computer-Aided Industrial Design Study Tour in Mansfield, Ohio, USA

    Cultural exchange with the local high school and our students shared their learnings and experience with the local students. It was a golden chance for them to meet people with different cultural background and they gained a lot from it.

    Hong Kong Youth Skills Competition - Facial and skin care Category

    Our students had a very outstanding performance among all. And the championship finally went to our student who will represent Hong Kong to participate the World Skills Competion in London.

    3 Year 3 EMT students won the champion, first and second runners up. They made new friends from other countries and exchanged their learning experience.

    The APAC NetRiders 2009 Challenge

    As the winning team in The 5th Hong Kong Macau Youth Networking Skills Competition, our CIM students representated Hong Kong to participate in The APAC NetRiders Challenge. There were 16 teams from different Asia-Pacific countries participated in this event.

    World Skill Competition, Canada

    Tsoi Chung Ngan, (Year 3 EMT student) represented Hong Kong to participate in the competition held in Canada. He met many participants from different parts of the world and gained a lot from it which became part of a memorable experience in his life.

    WorldSkills Calgary 2009 IT/PC Network Support

    Our CIM student, Wong Tin Long, representated Hong Kong to participate in the WorldSkills Calgary 2009 IT/PC Network Support which was held in Stampede Park, Calgary, Canada with satisfactory performance.
